Thread: taking off conv body

    Smile taking off conv body

    anyone have any suggestions on the best way to pull my conv body off the frame without tweeking it or twisting it. I have taken off htops but not a ragtop. I have 2 chain hoists and a engine puller. thanks

    I am going to weld some angle iron in an X across the top of the door openings when I take mine off. This was suggested by a restoration specialist I consult with from time to time.

    That is a very good start.
    Big eye bolts screwed into the outer seatbelt anchor holes should be enough to lift the body by with two chain hoists.

    I was goin to leave the doors intact yes no maybe for strength maybe put 4x4 across back with eye hooks on the ends put chain in hooks raise with hoists use bolts where fenders attach at firewall, but thats the area I am afraid of because there isnt much roof support what about jacking up car from the under side.
