    Nailhead I.D Codes

I have just aquired a 56 buick with a 332 engine in bits.
I really need i.d the engine as i think it maybe out of a chev truck
Serial no. is 17275434 and casting no. is 1169334.
Are there any differences between the truck engine and the car engine.
Any help would be great , cheers

That code is for a 56 to 59 Chev truck. I asked the same question as you some time ago. If you can figure out how to search the threads, you can see the responses I received. (I would tell you how to search if I knew how.) The Kanter catalog shows the same engine rebuild kit for the 322 Buick as for the 322 Chev. That engine was used in dump trucks and school busses. In thinking about it, maybe Buick put that engine in cars exported out of the States, or in domestic standard trans cars. Is your a standard trans or automatic? It has a lower compression ratio than the automatics. I am going to be away from my computer for about 3 weeks. Keep in touch.

That is for a Chebby truck, but it's a Buick 322 NailHead. Chebby didn't have anything powerful enough with enough low end grunt as the NailHead for the bigger trucks. Buick!!!!!! to the rescue, again, when it counted.

Desielmech; how is your search for info going? Does anyone know if the stick shift 56 Buicks used the truck engines? If so, that would explain the truck block code found in your car. There are a lot of parts for sale in Ebay Motors. Search for "nailhead".

Thanks Mottrodder. The reason my 56 has a truck engine in it is because the last owner took out the original, engine and dump a old worn out truck engine in it to sell. But i seem to be no wiser in the difference between the truck and car engine, maybe camshaft, but what else.
Dont what a car that performes like a truck.thats for the help so far.
