    Question about 264 Intake gaskets

I want to put on my new intake manifold, its a factory cast 4 barrel off of a 322. Ive seen 2 different gaskets available, one soft, and one tin. Locally I can get the Tin gaskets with no problem, but the soft ones I can sometimes find on line. My concern with the soft ones is they don't have the cut outs for the exhaust to flow into the intake manifold to warm it. Do the steel ones generally work well? Or am I better off just buying the soft ones and cutting exhaust holes in them. What do you guys think?

Use the "Tin" gaskets as that's what they came with originally. You need to keep the heat in the manifold for vaporization. Without them the engine will hesitate & stumble.

should I put a little High Tach on the gaskets to help them seal?

You could, but not really nec. I still like using the old Permatex 300, old brown stuff. Ole guy, ole ways, ole school!!!!
