    63 lesabre wagon help

Okay I got this neat 63 lesabre wagon that has a damaged 63 401 (damaged psiton and missing the heads and intake) still has the old dynaflow. I;ve located a nice low mileage 64 401 that i want to install into this vehicle. Would it be easier to mate this motor to this tranny or should I find a 64-65 tranny and install it behind this motor? would i need drive shaft cut, new cross member, make new shift linkage? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Talking 1963 Lesabre

    a '63 LeSabre Wagon.

    Nice Ride

In '63 the transmission offered was a Turbine. (What Model Number, I have no idea

However in '64 the LeSabre Wagon was listed as Series 4600. They were Trimmed as LeSabres but had the Wildcats Chassis and Power. There was an Option Choice of either a 300 Turbine or a 400 Turbine as was a 425

That is the information I researched from the Standard Catalog of Buick.

Hopefully some '63 or '64 owners will be able to add some more Valued Information.

    Good Luck with Your Project.

The 1964 engine should bolt up to the transmission that is in the 63 wagon.

Yes, the engine will physically bolt up to the tranny you have which should be a DynaFlow, but the hub of the DynaFlow torque converter WILL NOT fit inside the hub of the crank intended for a TH400. The DynaFlow crank inside hub diameter measures 2.212" as oppossed to the TH400 at 1.965". Possibilities, swap cranks from the '63 engine to the '64 engine. Get a NAILHEAD TH400 trans. This necessitates many other modifications, not insurmountable, but extra work & $$$$$ because additional parts are needed. Your engine code should start with a "J" if it is the original engine. '63 was the last year for the DynaFlow & '64 was the 1st. year of the TH400.

    tranny help?

so has any body done this swap? new yokes for the drive shaft?, different cross member? shift linkage? i'd rather install the t-400 behind the 64 nailhead. the engine I have has only 67 thousand miles on it.
