    Rebuilding 57

Hi, im rebuilding a 57 buick sedan, im currently putting the heads together and when i got the gasket set, some valve seals were in there, but i thought these engines did not have valve seals and in the manual as a dealer letter it said they were only fitted to inlet valves due to exccessive oil consumption before 3000kms.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me, as its my first time rebuilding a buick engine?

Originally NailHeads had no valve stem seals. The 1st. & only year was 1966 & that was on the intakes only. Most shops install seals, just make sure that the GOOD ones are used & that the guide is cut shorter to accomadate the seals without interference from the valve spring retainer.
