    replace rear main bearing cap?

What is the worst that can happen if I replace my original main bearing cap with a cap from a different block.I'm wondering if my cap is worn excessively .Thanks for your thoughts.

If you replace the main cap you will need to either get the block align bored, or machine the ends of the cap where it fits in the block to allow the cap to float. The machines could not repeat close enough to let you interchange the cap without some way of aligning it. If you put the new cap on, you will probably be able to feel the difference at the split line.

Thank you very much for saving me from myself and making another stupid move.I will forget about changing caps as of right now.
