Hello Forum.I have a 1958 Buick Limited that still has the original flight pitch trans. It is out of the car.I have rebuilt and changed to a variable pitch in one of these before,so all that info is not needed.I want to put a variable pitch trans in this Limited.I do not want to rebuild the flight pitch because of the parts difficulty and extra expense. However,I may have a chance to get a 1957 Roadmaster parts car.I have not dealt with a 57 before and if I happen to get one, will the crossmember and linkage fit a 58? I have a feeling the crossmember won't,but need to verify this with someone out here that knows these cars.

Hi Group,This post may have been better suited for "driveline" section, but to make it short I got a 57 parts car last week and the crossmember is only 18 inches long.Much shorter than 58.The 57 uses a box section off the frame,on either side that 58 doesn't.It makes getting to the bolts easier for removal, but maybe it was a weak point. Not sure.
