    '55 to '56 engine?

    Good morning,
Does anyone know if a '56 engine will bolt up to a '55 3 speed special without modification?
    Thank you,
    iddie

    Hey Iddie.

    How You Doin'

They are basically the same engine and should bolt right up without any problems.

However the '56 had a stronger 3 speed trans which handles the additional torque much better.

The 3 speed you have was originally designed to handle the straight 8.
