That's a good question, and while I have read it somewhere, I don't remember it. What I do remember is in the '50s, the Buick people said "If you have to ask the milage, you can't afford a Buick!"
I am wondering if yall know what kind of mpg the stock 52 super got fresh off the show room floor. Mine has a straight 8.
thanx,
Chevo

My 1952 Buick Super 4 door gets 14 MPG in all around driving if I stay under 65 MPH and don't use low gear full throttle starts too often.
Jim Carmichael 55 Buick Special & 65 Buick Riviera GS
With our 1956 Special 2dr Riviera we get around 18,5 mpg, with lots of city traffic it drops to 15 mpg.
Though, I must admit that with modern high-pressure gas pumps (making half a gallon shooting out of the filler tube when you are not careful enough at the station), it is hard to determine exactly the amount of gas you have used...

A bad solution is applicable to almost every problem !
I just checked my '53...10.2, but it's been idling in the driveway quite a bit while I check on things...

Sorry Chevo, I know that's more than you asked for, sorry. I'm stepping off my box now and back behind the wheel, where I'm happy, in my Buick. ~T~
Im not sure mpg since the rebuild, cam head, milling, and bigger carb. Im sure its no worse than an SUV, and I wont be uncomfortable or un-safe over a buck. $6 a gal wont stop my cruzin up or down Ca. coast, or even to work. Moot point, besides Bush is looking into prices and I'm sure it will all be FIXED, in no time. As if he doesnt know whats going on. I'm sure his prioritys are on his short term job and not his long term oil connections or Texas buddies. 400 milion for oil CEO retirements? What we pay in gas $ & taxes gives us rights to add our 2 cents.
