I think the ST300 has the BOP transmission bolt pattern so it should bolt to the Buick 350. If you swap in a 200r4 you'll also have to swap in lower rear axle gears so you can run in OD.
WD 40 is not the best penetrating oil to loosen up rusted bolts, it's more of a general light lube. Get a dedicated penetrating oil that will also disolve rust such as PB Blastor.
If the ST300 is original it will have a variable pitch torque converter. It's a good trans. IMHO. I wouldn't use a TH400 as the parasitic HP loss will be higher than with the other trans choices and...
Most people say to stay away from the hi volume pump as it puts to much stain on the distributor gear and isn't necessary anyways. Get an oil pump rebuild kit from TA and make sure the gear clearance...
Clockwise is the normal rotation and counter-clockwise is a backwards running engine.
this isn't a hard and fast rule within the GM family. Poncho and Olds both turn the distro CCW. it is true...
If the serpentine belt didn't come out until 1985 then all 84 and earlier pumps should be clockwise rotating pumps. Maybe at some point someone installed a counterclockwise (post /84) rotating pump...
Tough luck Jake! Hard to believe an engine could destroy itself that badly just cruising down the highway.
Unless you really want the serpentine belt all you need to do is replace the water pump with any pre serpentine belt water pump that has the same length shaft. I'm pretty sure that all SBB V8 & V6...
Right you are, i forgot. Should just mean drilling new holes in the frame and sliding the cross member back.
What was the outcome (my bet was on a broken rod that punched a hole thru the bloke; hope I was wrong) and are you back on the road?
BOP TH350's and TH200-4R are interchangable as far as physical size, mounts and drive shaft go.
The cast iron heads & intake flow better than the aluminum because of the larger ports & runners so there is no performance gain to be had from the aluminum is there?
1977 350 should still be a Buick engine. Also you could try T/A Performance for a harmonic balancer.
Is the Holley a spread bore (secondaries larger than primaries). A spread bore carb gives better throttle response and fuel economy on the street plus will not need an adapter to fit a Buick...
Buick 350's came stock with a 750cfm Q-jet therefore I don't know why you'd want to go smaller especially when you have a performance cam and high compression pistons. You need to find someone who...
Just have a machine shop or drive line shop shorten your drive shaft. Not an expensive job.
Stoneshrink, I think you have what the vacuum advance does backward. When you step on the gas vacuum drops therefore the vacuum advance canister RETARDS the timing to avoid ping. It allows alot of...
Most (maybe all??) 200r4 trans have the dual pattern Chev/BOP bell housing. The ones from a Buick GN or Monte Carlo SS are built stronger Proper TV cable adjustment is apparently critical.
Cool, I learn something everyday:bgrin:. Unfortunately I doubt if there is a manual transaxle that you could bolt the 215 to without some fabrication, definately no N/S one.
EGGE Machine should have oversize bearings. egge.com
What timing are you running? Slightly advancing the timing may help. But I suspect that the choke is opening fully too early. If you had a vacuum problem it would probably , not just at that...
Definately buy the 215, it's a steal IMO.
Nailheadnut, was the engine in those cars in a north south alingnment (front of engine pointing to front of car) or was the motor cross mounted?
The same...
Burton Machine makes both single & twin turbo kits for SBBs.

It is completely different from both. It is an ST300 which has an automatically shifted 2 speed planetary gear set similar to a powerglide along with a variable pitch strator similar to what the...
