and you definitely do NOT want to have a fuel leak.
why not just pull the engine apart and give it a quick once over? that way you don't have to worry about rust scale clogging up the piston rings or anything like that.
do you know who did the...

However the distributor is mounted on the front of the block instead of the rear.
unpossible. Buick *never* made a Nailhead with the distributor at the "front" of the block. the 215ci and 300ci...
I’ll add some pictures when I figure out how to do it.

if you're looking at a Le Sabre, that should have a 364ci Nailhead in it ... which is a bit of an odd duck. there are no other Nailheads with the 364 deck height.

that is a very sharp car.
if you need a photo editing program, Irfanview is pretty good and it's free. that would allow you to do things like rotate the picture 90 degrees.

if the TH-400 doesn't work out, the popular swap is the 200r4.
they seem to have all been made with a dual pattern bell ( Chevy / BOPC ) and are approx the same length as a TH-400.
i don't think i mentioned, Rovers and Buick / Olds / Pontiac 215s don't share your transmission bell pattern. they all have a special pattern which was introduced with the Buick 215 and which has...
