Have you tried graphite?
I too think that your English is fine; definately much better than MY Spanish.
Just for your information, Buick's automatic transmission was called the Dynaflow. It was scaled down for the...
My dream Buick would be a 1947 Roadmaster convertible, with the three speed on the column. Maroon with a white top, if you please.
Please, please change the color of the headings in the top of the page classifieds to some dark color. Bright yellow on beige/tan is almost impossible to read.
Thanks,
Gil
I ran your question past a friend, who is a great mechanic and has done a few restorations, including a '51 Special, and this is what he said:
Your brake lights go though your turn signal switch....
Yes. GM published master parts books. Some even showed interchangability between makes (which Buick parts fit Caddies, etc)
Not sure where you might find one though. Maybe the big car show in...
I've never worked on a '54 Buick, but the earlier staright eight Buicks had a brake light switch, which was mounted on the hydraulic brake line. When you step on the brake pedal, the fluid fills the...
I may be wrong (have been many times :jeez:), but I don't think it really matters, as you are only cooling your tranny fluid.
I presume you have looked under the hood. The engine should be a straight eight. There were no Buicks equipped with power steering in 1951.
Sounds like a 248cid crank to me.
'53 Specials were six volt. I would recommend that you find a shop manual for your car, as it will come in handy for more than just the wiring diagram.
On Friday afternoon, 5 Oct 07, it was $2.55.9 in Wytheville, Virginia, as I was driving through.
"...I can't find any parts for it up here"
You should be able to get whatever you need via the mail from the various Buick suppliers. It may cost more at first, but IMHO you will wind up better...
It has been years since I meesed with the brakes on a '52 Buick, but I believe the master cylinder on the 70 series is different and I'm not sure about the wheel offset. By going to a wider drum, the...
General Motors used several body sizes and shared them throughout the different brands. Buick Specials, Pontiacs, and Chevrolets shared bodies, while Buick Supers and Roadmasters shared bodies with...
Straight eight Buicks were negative ground cars.
Whenever the battery is disconnected, the voltage regulator needs to be polarized before the engine is started, or the generator won't charge....
It has been at least 30 years since I worked on the gas gauge on the '52 Buick that I had, so I may be a bit fuzzy on details.
My gauge was installed with Permatex and a paper gasket. The tank...
"...was a mechanic
for about 15-20 years in the 1950's."
Wow!
I have had a year or two that seemed to last longer that 12 months, but squeezing 15-20 years into one decade takes some doing....
It should fit fine. Do you know if this came out of a standard transmission car or a Dynaflow car and what type of tranny does your '52 Super have? The rear end ratio in a manual is lower (numerially...
I've towed a U-Haul trailer that was full of really light weight stuff like barbells, bench, and close to a TON of weights, plus all of the other gear that two college guys accumulate during the...
"I wonder why the Dual Carb Set-Up was restricted to ONLY those Two Model Years?"
The dual carbs were introduced to up the power in '41. The '42s also had the option, but then WW II came...
As I remember reading years ago, sidemounts could be had as single or dual and I believe they all had the covers as well. They definitely were an option and not standard.
My first car was a 1952 Super Riveria 4 door sedan, model 52. She was my grandfather's last car and was bought from his boss in 1954. Pop-pop died in '58 and my grandmother kept tags and insurance on...
