Nor do I. If the car starts it must be OK. 6 volts has been on that car for the last 80 years.
The cables from the battery need to be the correct size. Bigger than for 12 volt, but not that hard...
Thanks for the photos. And is has the desirable optional side fender light's.
Looks like a good challenge. What is your intention with the car?
1939 Buick's were always 1 color. The firewall should also be the same as the exterior
And we like photos
The 263 should mount the same as your 1940 248
1939 gearboxes have many parts that are 1 year only. 1940 and later is a better gearbox. Any other photos of the gearbox?
Image if from a 1939...
Certainly looks interesting. A lot of car for a small engine to move about (Triumph?). I like the pickup style photo from above
The mid side engine mounts came out in 1948, but the engine serial...
Any photo's of what is used to be?
Did it have a str 8 engine or just the small petrol engine?
Years ago there was a '39Buick for sale in UK with a very rough van type body
You don't have much...
Is the 1940 RHD or LHD?
Is the chassis RHD or LHD? I assume you have documentation for this (registered)?
Photo of the chassis would be good.
It will also have an engine number, stamped in a machined surface on the right under the plugs
Also worth asking here ---> http://forums.aaca.org/forum/57-buick-post-war/
What parts do you want?
Is it for the 248ci Special (5 bolt transmission casing) or 320ci Century (6 bolt transmission casing)
Ebay. Some parts are common with other years

'58 Limited's were the top of the range in their day.
They have a torque tube drive line, so its just a matter of dropping in a big block with auto.
Modifications will reduce value.
But it is...
Serial number?
Complete?
As you asked, its not worth a lot of $$$$
It may have just moved on the springs, when the engine-box was removed. The torque tube holds the back end in position.
Are the engine mounts in the correct position? (Unsure if can be an in...
From 1939 gearbox's were column change. So if you have a floor change behind the 263ci is not the same year as the engine. Unless it had a modification. Any photo's of the gearbox? Including the...
You will need to use a 1940 248ci front engine mounting plate to install the 263.
Cannot use the front side mounts on the 263ci. Front mounts changed about 1948.
Dave T may help with parts

VIN's as we know them today did not exist. VIN's started in mid 1950's but were not standardised in ~1980

No.
Not a 320ci. 320's are about 3" longer than a 248ci

The chassis and running gear is the same as USA, other than RHD, imported from USA . The front sheet metal & rear guards/fenders are ex USA.
The rest of the body, trim, seats, etc was made by GMH...
The poster has been asked on AACA.org what he really needs.
Is not clear what car he has (exact model) and what engine or engine parts he needs.
Various photos have been posted, but no idea if...
