Beautiful job!
How long are the rockers from the center of the roller tip to the center of the adjuster screw?
Just want to check them against the 263 rockers
Thanks

All answers to your questions will have to come from Doug and the rest of the Salt Cat Racing team.
I can provide these pictures for reference. They are just 2 of the many found on Face Book....

My block measured .168" wall thickness between 7 and 8 but the side of the wall next to the freeze plug hole measured .250".
As far as I know there isn't a roller timing set available....

Thanks for doing the simulation.
John said it best. Stay with an 82mm bore and keep as much cylinder wall as possible.
I don't know of anyone pushing the limits on a 263.
Looking at...

I hear you!
I'm having to use the seach just to find my own previous posts so I don't expect any one else to keep up.
It's sooo great too see this much participation.

Great article and there are many other subjects associated with that web site.
Yes, a rod ratio near 2.0 is desirable if possible but as always there is a trade off that the article did...
Where you able to view the pictures on Facebook?

I have never CC'd the chambers but I questimate them around 100 cc.
The center intake port spacing is 7.91"

This block is definitely untouched and I have a second block to verify. I will check the second block.
Also consider that at this time period Buick made a lot of their dimensions using a 1/16"...

What can you do to the crank to raise the point of resonance?

Just got back from the shop with good info.
Measured the valve centers using a head with all but 1 set of guides removed. I used calipers.
The valve guide holes are .625" in diameter....
Hey Kevin
I will get the STD valve centerline measurements tomorrow.
With the freeze plugs removed from the block, we measured the wall thickness on the thrust side at .165"

Nice Work! Well Done!
I put my calipers away and broke out the micrometer.
The rod big end width on a 263 measures 1.025"
It would be better to turn the crank pin to fit the Jag rods...

You are also in that same category

Did you go with 8 injectors installed right at the intake valves?

One of the reasons for connecting the manifolds with a tube is to get vacuum for power assisted brakes or manifold vacuum/pressure signal for an EFI system.
The other reason is to...
The Buick Guy's projects are all about setting land speed records with the Buick S8.
You'll find all of his many accomplishments on Facebook under Salt Cat Racing.

You could simply pour a solid block with the outside dimensions of the head and see what the shrinkage is for the alloy you want to use.
Paul
Your right, we can and the machining needs to be done whether it's a casting or billet.
The main difference is the billet is stronger and no chance of air bubbles or air pockets.

If you are talking about casting a straight 8 cylinder head with 4 valves per cylinder, it is very complicated.
There are many cores to be made for the ports and for the water jackets and...

I was replying to Rotus7 and it occurred to me that I hadn't taken into account the difference in VE between cylinder pairs.
In order to make EFI work there must also be fuel compensation...
Looking at cylinders #1 and #2 as the first pair to share an intake port, at low rpm, #1 supercharges #2 during reversion ABDC.
As the rpm increases this relationship changes and the volumetric...
If you haven't already seen this thread, the investigation continues as to making the Siemese intake ports work with EFI.
So I'm not saying it can't be done, it's just been a tough road.

I found this article that says the Bugatti 57 engine had 6 main bearings, 2 which are very close at the rear.
The Bugatti 57 engine had cylinder pairs between main bearing as does the Buick making...

Thanks for the update.
We came to the same conclusion on the Jag rods.
Just a quick note on rod ratios. A 1.75 rod length to stroke ratio is not ideal in all cases.
On our...
