I'm a cheapskate, I admit it - so when I heard I could buy small, thin walled Headman headers for 768 or okay, still small, headers for 1000; I figured I'd just do it myself.

Let me be the first...
I agree with all of what you've said, although, there is another cost - the valve train - to upgrade to the TA performance (adjustable) is $759...
Conversely, there is an additional advantage,...
forgot one last bit - now I have a problem with the tires folding over - so next up will be low-profile tires and at least 17" front/18" rear rims.
the easiest way to remove bushings was....

I built the tool, then air impacted it off - and impacted them back...
I've run a holley hp 870, 850, 850 dp.... the 870 with the lightest vacuum secondary spring works best - be sure to upsize the rear jets if you run that same carb.
I've been agonizing over the...
it's the right year (highest hp of the 455s), it runs, and it hasn't been messed with - 1k is a good price without the car. I spent 500 for mine, but I had been looking for a long, long time - and...
Like the title says - I have a 1970 Buick with a 12 bolt rear. I'm replacing the upper control arm bushings, and having an terrible time getting them off the ears on the rear housing. Is there an...
that looks really nice.
frame conversion is all about measurements. You're not so concerned about length, and you'd be exceptionally lucky a newer frame with the same dimensions. The critical dimension is track width...
Does your wife like to go fast? I call her driving flying low
What 5 speed are you using? Either a t-45 from a V-8 mustang, or a strengthened t-5. I have a t-5, so that may actually end up...
valid guesses, but it's a fiat spider 2200 - it's a 2 seater sports car that begs for a transplant :) a Buick transplant (of course)
I think I saw that orb too... it kind of frightened me.
Don't have the megasquirt yet, the project comes after the current project - a 3800 powered, turbo'd, 5 speed Spider that my wife wants to...
single plane, air gap design. The only difference will be whether or not I use 16 injectors rather then 8. I have a friend running a fairly mild BBC, and he oversized the injectors when he built...
The stock Buick motor has 525 lb torque - I guess I've always felt there was at least a 50% margin of error built into the motor from GM. For that reason I've always thought that, 750 hp 750 tq was...
What a week...
I appreciate your input on pro-chargers, I must admit I'm a bit reluctant to use any belt driven power-adder because belts come off; mostly at the worst possible time (Plus the heat...
what works better with turbos, large-bore, short stroke; or small bore, long stroke? Is there a better runner size/shape with turbos?
whether longer or shorter stroke, it's the same crank being...
I'd never thought of destroking the 455, have to give it some thought.
The purpose of the turbo is to overcome the Buick's low hp. It has awesome torque, but to get that mass moving faster...
is there a better choice of turbo then the BW? my use of that as the for-instance is because I figure I can get them for a good price from the guys who are upgrading their turbos off their diesel...
that's very helpful, thank you
nope, I've been playing with different fuels for awhile - one of the advantages of EFI/Electronic spark is/boost you can turn up the fuel rate, turn up the boost and change the timing on the fly...
RPM range is easy to answer 2500-6500 rpm (the crank won't live beyond that RPM).... hp... will depend on the cam but it should be well north of 750 hp and hopefully somewhere in the 1200 hp...
keep in mind this is a block and heads at this moment.
In my past I did sheet metal fabrication, so building intakes, headers, most anything metal is genetic....
I'm boring/stroking the motor...
also don't forget about doing a half-fill of the block with hardbloc... you can gain a lot of strength, and worst case scenario is you're running an oil cooler too.
I'm planning the same build...
So that's what a stock engine compartment looks like :jeez:
very true, however, there are other ways of getting a head to flow more air - such as postive displacement devices (aka turbos, blowers, superchargers).... and a turbo on a Buick is just right no...
