Actually, the Nailhead casting numbers are on the outside of the head on the exhaust side.
You are looking for 65-66 Gran Sport Skylark parts. That was a Skylark with a Nailhead 400 (401) engine and Nailhead specific ST300 transmission. It might be easier to look for someone parting out...
TA Performance has the frame pads and motor mounts to fit the 455 in a 64-67 (Skylark) GM A-Body. You will be moving your trans cross-member back, but there should be pre-drilled holes already in...
You are basically recreating a 67 GS 400. It has a Buick 400 engine and ST 400 trans. The Buick 400 engine is the same size and has the same mounting points as a Buick 455. All of the GS 400 parts...
Moving along nicely there Bob. :hurray::bana:
Very nice looking LeSabre you have there. I have always liked that body style.

Rob,
There are no aftermarket manifolds for the 340. It might respond to a good tune up as the 340 can definitely get out of it's own way when tuned-in. There are cam and carburetor improvements...
You could try the mid grade and see if it pings. Be prepared to back off some ignition timing until it doesn't ping if you try it.
10.25:1 advertised, but most Buick V8s engines were actually .5-.75 lower then advertised in reality.
I know the suspension linkage is different between the LeSabre and A-body (Skylark, Special) cars in those years. The A-body has the suspension in front of the cross-member and the LeSabre has some...
Engine codes out to a 64 Electra. Trans codes for a 64 TH400 for a 425 single 4 bbl. The vins and partial vins would match if they were from the original car. Someone probably wanted to up grade from...
Yes, the 68 ST300 is the same as the earlier ST300, but it does not have the variable pitch converter like the earlier ST300. Internal passages are blocked and changes were made to accommodate the...
Bob, those look so very nice . Have you figured out a cam yet? One of the TA aftermarkets will probably fit the bill, but some of the Nailhead performance enthusiasts like the comp extreme energy...
It's still a 65 riv with a 425 and ST400 trans. That was the bigger of the engines available in the 65 and it has to be fun to drive. The parts have no idea what year they are from as they perform...
Looks like the trans is from yet another car. BR=401 designation, 66= 1966 model year, 119179=sequential production number of the car.

It looks like you have a 65 Riviera with a 64 Riviera engine. 5H907386 would have been stamped in your engine if it was original: 5=1965, H=Flint Mi assembly plant, 907386 for the sequential...
The rear passage to the rockers just dead ends at the head gasket. This way you can swap heads and still have an oil path to the rockers. Only the large passages return the oil to the crankcase. ...
Check the Chassis Service Manual we have for 1967 in the Reference section of this site. There is a complete section on the 225 including the rocker arms and oiling system. There is a specific...
Chop Sticks? :bgrin:
I think it may be a piece of the diaphragm from the pump. Pull it out and see of it is rubber.
That looks more like the partial vin number from the car stamped on the front of the engine: 5 for 1965, D for Atlanta GA assembly plant followed by the 6 digit (missing 1) series number in the line....
I think you want to go bigger. The 401s and 425s had two 625 CFM carbs as part of the stock package. I have been told they made more power with 700+ CFM carbs.

Lesabre is the 45000 series.
