Really, anything will work, you'll just need to fabricate brackets to make it fit. If you can cut, drill, and weld, you can make any seat combinaton from anything "work". I don't think there's...
I keep thinking I'm going to do a 5/3 header on mine. I'm also contemplating the idea of setting up a manifold to just run one small cfm 4-barrel, just for ease of set-up.
In my personal opinion, the swap-over to a 350/350 would be just as labor intensive as anything....keep in mind you're swapping and fabbing an F body rear-end in the car to boot.
Consider what I...
Meh... Shouldn't even be an option.
Go with the straight 8 or put a nailhead or 455 in it. Don't go into the rhelm of SB Chevy like 50,000,000 other people have.
The efficiency of the head does have a TON to do with it. This is why Audi 4 and 5 valve heads can run 22-30 PSI without breaking a sweat. My 94 S4 was a 2.2 20V 5 cylinder. Stock compression is...
The str8 pistons listed on ebay under the seller Falcon? Any experience using these?
I think a T3/T4 is probably the cheapest bang for the buck. You can pick them up readily for 300.00 rebuilt, and all the fittings and flanges to fabriacte what you need are readily available.
So...I'm contimplating two different ideas of what to do with my 1950 Special Sedanette that I picked up.
One, I've been very interested in the process that this guy did...

Thanks! Looks like I'll have to stick to a 401/400 together.
Hey guys,
I'm planning on putting a 401 in my 1950 special (upgrading the drivetrain to open) but I was curious on transmissions.
I've read to stay away from the 1964 400 turbine, but the...
If there's a break in a line, or a blown up wheel cylinder somewhere, the pedal probably got pushed at some point by someone, and stuck to the floor. Master cylinder could be junk too.
I've done alot of turbo cars (All Audi) but I might be able to steer you in the right direction.
I couldn't get the link to load, but generally speaking, I think a turbo Jeep motor would do...
I'd always been a fan of Permatex #2...the non-hardning goopy olive green stuff.
I've had nothing but bad luck with any RTV except the high-temp grey, which I use to seal the corners of intake...
Depends I guess... I'm just getting started on re-building my 1950.
If you want an engine / draintrain that everyone else in the world has done, but you can find cheap parts and your HP per...
I know some people have swapped over the fronts of their early 50's buicks to a Camaro / FB front-end. Does anyone have pics of the process or any advice on the swap?
Thanks, I'd love to see some pics, especially how you made the engine mounts.
Hey peoples,
I posted this in another section as well, but I'll post it here too...I'm considering swapping out the str8 for a 401 nailhead / 400 turbine in my 1950 special. If I do so, I plan...
Has anyone swapped a Str8 for a nailhead on here? I'm curious as to a 401 / 400 turbo (turbine) going into one of these cars. can the engine compartment accomodate (wide enough) for a 401?
No problem! Consider it no different than a turbo Diesel motor. Keeping boost threshold low (like I said before) is the most critical part. You have to pick a turbo that will achieve maximum boost...
Hey peoples....
Where are places to go for engine parts for my 248?
I am going to be turbocharging this thing. The car and motor hasn't ran since 1976 (and I have the groovy 76 Bicentenial...
I'm not sure on the weight but it's not enough to need anything other than your mitts to remove it.
I'm doing much the same project with my 50' 248 I picked up. Consider picking up Corky Bell's book "Maximum boost". It's a great book in learning the basics of turbocharging any engine, dealing with...
Hello all,
New to the forum and was just searching around, so I thought I'd post.
I just picked up this 1950 Special in pretty good shape. This'll be the
oldest car I've owned, and most of...
