Have you checked the CHOKE? That may be the problem.
If the choke is stuck OPEN, you will get a very lean condition.
To much air not enough fuel.

The big car manifolds will definatly interfer with the fire wall, steering gear and frame. Probably the best alternative would be the tube headers. There is another set of manifolds on e-play...

If the 66 stayed pretty much the same as 65, the #4 was a lite blue conv. top.
