Go ahead and put that Chevy engine in it and I'll take your old nailhead off of your hands for you.
401s and 425s have 10.25 : 1 CR. You need at least 100 octane to get the full power potential out of these engines. 91 octane will hardly light my bar-b-que.
Rather than using WD40 on my clocks, I use TV tuner cleaner from Radio Shack. It comes in a small spray can and it will lubricate as well as clean your clock.
Try running a tank full of 100LL Av gas. That will wake up your 401 or 425!
I have been using 10W-30 in all of my Buicks for the last 25 years with no problems.
Try NAPA Auto parts.
Can I have your old wheels and hubcaps?
I have a complete transmission for that car, but it weighs 85 pounds and would cost a lot to shio it.
Try an AC A63C or a Fram CA176. 2bbl and 4bbl are the same.

I have been running a 50 - 50 mixture of 91 octane and 100LL aviation gasoline in my '65 Wildcat for 15 years with Pertronix ignition and have had no problems with knock. I have the stock Carter AFB...
I run a 50 - 50 mixture of 100LL Av gas and 91 octane in my '65 Wildcat with EFI and the stock AFB carb and it hauls ***. I have heard of people milling 0.050" off of the top of the pistons to bring...
No, I don't have a flywheel or a bell housing for that tranny.
My Dynaflow rebuilder (he's done 5 of them for me) recommends Dexron III plus one quart of 30 weight silicone oil for lubrication.
Where did you get the carburetor adapter?
I have a Buick 6 bolt manual transmission for sale for $100.00 plus shipping.
I have been using Auto Lite plugs in my Buicks and have been having good results with them.
I'm sad to say this but Ken Schmidt died a few months ago. He was around 83 and had been in poor health.
Mike Hogan took over his business.

I just received the March 2010 issue of Car Craft magazine and in it was an advertisement for Buick 401, 425 roller lifters.
They are being manufactured by Howards Cams and sold by Competition...
It sounds to me that you burned a hole in your piston which was probably caused by detonation. You need to run at least 93 octane gasoline.
The gear ratio is a 3.07 or a 3.23.
You can run the stock wheels. It's a 5 x 5" bolt patern.
I knew a guy that used the '63 through '65 rear ends and it worked great.
No pictures.
Whether you run the single four barrel or the dual four barrel carburetors it won't make much difference in HP because of the crappy 91 or 92 octane premium gasoline that's out there today. In order...
