I got my main steering seals from RockAuto.com.
Check the earths, check the starter motor and solenoid connections are good and have not corroded - this can be very difficult to spot without removing the cables themselves. I made my own up as...
If it's like the 49 the trans access is under the carpet on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel inside the car and the diff you just undo the drain plug and fill it until oil comes back out.
If it's like the 49 there's an inspection plate that's accessible through the floor carpet on the passenger side of the transmission hump inside the car. If you have original carpets there should be...
What he said definitely. You can always get the parts cut and fitted prior to painting, paint, then fit them afterwards. That's what I would do.
Very nice work!
To finish this thread - I managed to get an exchange wiper motor. Once fitted the wipers worked straight away. The additional vacuum switch has been consigned to the bin.
I ended up putting it into a friend's workshop as I couldn't get the spring to re-attach. He took the whole door mechanism out and it is just worn out from 60 years of use and part of it has sheared....
Wow! That's a really great reply, thank you.
I will get the car on stands this weekend and take the wheel & hub off to see exactly what's going on. I have a shop manual and I'm reading the...
Hi,
I noticed some oil building up (and very slowly dripping) on the brake backplate behind the rear brakes on my '49 Sedan. I would think this indicates a rear axle oil seal failure. Does that...
Also Wheatbelt Buick for secondhand parts.
Done! (Blue Moon Cars)
You don't need to change the earth cable. It's only earthing out; if it's not on corroded metal it should be fine.
I made my own starter cable (I'm in the UK) as I couldn't find a suitable...
Thanks - I don't keep the cars on site so will check at the weekend when I bring both of them over to work on.
Hi,
I took a look at the handle. There is a spring approximately 1 1/4" in diameter that has come loose that appears to go from underneath the handle to a post above it. I couldn't find a way to...
I'm going to get a quote for a front end suspension rebuild on my '49 Super. I was comparing the deluxe front end rebuild kit from Cars Inc

Basically All '52s are Rivieras.
I hope to check at the weekend also I might post some pictures if I'm still stumped.
Thanks for the reply,
Andy
Hi,
Sorry about the poor description but if this has happened to you you'll know what I mean!
A couple of the exterior door handles on my '49 Super (the pull down type) appear to have come...
My '52 Super is Betty and my '49 Super is called Wilma. Not because they are out of the Stone Age or anything.....:D
Brilliant thanks!
Yes, that's the one - exactly what it sounds like!
It goes away either when I depress the clutch OR engage the throttle. So I guess that's what it is. Can you remember what adjustment...
Hi,
On my 49 Super I had a lot of noise coming from the rear end. It transpired that the bottom of one of the shock links had literally disentegrated and the other one had been repaired with a...
Thanks - So should the switch be making that noise or should it be silent?
Also my '52 is right hand drive and the washer switch is located behind the fuse panel and is very difficult to get to....
