I will take a look at those items. I rebuilt/replaced everything on this car, including the carb. She had been sitting in a barn since late 70's. Thanks!

Do any of you know if the 320 straight eight will crank and run if the distributor is out 180? This old girl is fighting at every opportunity. She cranks and idles, exhaust sounds good, but she...
The thread sealer did the trick. No more leak. I created the problem by using the Permatex #2. Now to adjust the valves, and get her on the street. Thanks to all.
Try rotating it a bit as you pull it out to clear lobes.
Looking good. I have a 46 Roadmaster project at the moment. You might take a close look at replacing the brake lines. Not a real bad job, and you can find kits on Ebay.

I remember my Dad complaining about the gear whine in his old Buick. A mechanic told him it was because of "the Buick" in it. The whine is caused by the square-cut gears in the tranny, and is...
I reread Bob's reply regarding using thread sealer, and am going to use Loctite 1158514 head bolt and water jacket thread sealer instead. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I understand. I got the #1 Permatex today, and will go through and re-seal the headbolts on the driver's side. Thanks again.
Great advice. Your stud info is exactly what I need. Thank you so much! Save me from having to pull all of them out for inspection.
When I get back to it next week, I'll make sure I resealed...
I had to put it on the back burner, but was still leaking. I'm going to try to get back at it next week.
I pulled the head bolts and re-inserted with ample Permatex, but coolant still bubbles out. Next step is to pull the manifolds off, and most likely the head will be back off with me raising hell...
Good idea. I did that, plus drained the coolant and pulled the head bolt right above the leak and then put it back with extra Permatex #2. Leak seems to have lessened. I'm going to pull the other...
I have just now gotten my 320 back together, cranking and running. I took the head in and had it cleaned, shaved and they did a valve job. While the motor is running, you can see coolant bubbling...

Thanks for the info. A couple of mine have the hole where the valve stem comes out rusted out with a portion of the tube threatening to cut through. Except for that, I would probably just blast...
I'm restoring a 46 Roadmaster, and am looking to replace the original factory wheels. They are 15" with mounted P215 75 R15 and P225 75 R15 tires. I would like to stay with original style wheels...
Yes, I have a 48 Zephyr Convertible that had been "totally" restored before I bought it. When I received it, had a hard starting problem which I determined to be from fuel draining back into the...
With the trip to a machine shop, I found that the bearing with collar that was in my Roadmaster cannot have just a new bearing pressed on. It came from the factory as an assembly and took part BCA...
Yes, that is the bearing I have. I found that it is pressed onto the collar the fork attaches to. Thanks
This question is in regards to a 46 roadmaster 70 series with the 320. I ordered a new clutch release bearing, but the old bearing appears to be one assembly with the sleeve. Does anyone know if...
Thanks! Bill
Guys, I hate asking this question, but I can't find in the sources any info about the arrow on top of the main bearing caps, and I just forgot from when I took it apart. Do they point to the front...
What lube should you use to spin the cam? 30wt? I know the Lucas lube assembly is too sticky to spin.
My measurement is with just the mains torqued down at .0015 too. All std. I had an NOS set of rings from Kantor that I had to return because the set was missing two of the oil rings. I'm on hold...
