Why not put that engine in a Buick instead of wasting it on a Hudson?
I have been using 10W-30 Valvoline plus 8 oz. of ZDDP zinc additive for at least 20 years in all of my Buicks. No problems.
That's why you have to check the fluid level in the differential often.
I have three Dynaflow Buicks. They all leak. ATF is cheap.
I installed new rear springs that were a little stiffer than the old ones and installed new heavy duty shocks. This worked real good.
I have used Pertronix in about 20 of my cars for the last 25 years and have had no problems.
I found the piston you need. It's A Sealed Power #1839 P Standard 4" diameter. This is a product of Sealed Power Corp. New in box.

When I had my 1964 Riviera I would mix in 5 gallons of 100 Octane LL Av Gas with high octane premium and that would really perk up the performance.
All old Buicks leak oil. Oil is cheap.

I converted the distributor on my 1956 Buick to Pertronix ignition and it works great.
I have used Pertronix in all of my Buicks for the last 25 years and have had no problems with them.

If I were you I would go ahead and clean up the engine by removing the smog equipment. You will have to plug the holes in the heads.
