Hey Guys,
I need someone to give me a definitive answer as to whether the control arms for these years are all the same on Centurys, Specials, Roadmasters. Or are there differences in the models....
Thanks Doug,
I didn't know about these guys.
Looks like there is a correct size there for me

Hello, I have just got my 248 block back from the engine builders after a rebore and crank grind. They also fitted up the camshaft which I also had reground back to standard.

Going way back to the first entry in this thread regarding unequal runners creating leaner mixtures towards the outer cylinders. I'm wondering if the designers of old knew something back then that's...
Maybe that's the problem, as I am in Oz with an Australian built Special also.
If you don't mind having a look at your 48 that would help. I don't suppose that you could also see if it looks like...
My mistake. You're correct about the stud pattern.
Still leaves me with the clearance problem for my wheels.
What, if any, buick or GM models run an 11" or even a 10" run setup on the rear?...
Just messing around with the idea of putting 15" rims onto my '46 Special to get it sitting a bit lower.
The fronts will be not much of a problem, as I would be fitting up disc brakes at the same...
Don't forget that when you have finished poking around in an engine block to loosen crud, it is wise to run some kind of filter between the block and top radiator inlet to arrest bits and pieces....

Hey Alleycat, Can you please give me a contact name over at Egge pistons. I couldn't get past the front counter guy when I enquired about machining up blank 248 pistons to fit japanese ring sets.
Sorry , I can't help with the Temp question. I'm not that far with my resto yet, but I did want to know about your remote oil filter. Did you convert the path that the oil travels to make it "full...
Well, back from the swap meet and not much Buick gear I'm afraid. Picked up an old heavy duty engine stand for 25 bucks though. Should help with the re-co.
Does anyone have the nominal main bearing...
I used to race motorcycles and managed to seize up a very expensive engine because I inadvertently blocked the fuel tank vent. The mixture went super lean killed the motor.
The idea of the fuel...
Thanks for the info. I am going to tank clean both blocks and measure them up in order to decide which one to use. I guess that if the later block is an improvement, then I should give it...
This is where I'm getting confused. Today, I got hold of the second motor and have stripped it down. A reliable source put it at '51 because the engine mounts come out the side. Only problem is, the...
Does anyone know what the differences are between 1946 248's and 1951 models Specials in respect to the crankshafts. I have a dead '46 model due to holing some pistons after running out of water. I...
I have a '46 Special with a broken hood ornament ring. Have bought the replacement, but because the repair was carried out with epoxy, I cannot make out what holds the two tabs in place. Is it a grub...
