I've got a '56 Special sedan with the original 322/Dynaflow setup. The engine needs rebuilt and the trans. isn't that great either.
I recently met a guy at a show who had a '56 Special wagon. He...
The timing chain in my Buick jumped a tooth and after disassembling the front end, I've decided to pull the engine and tranny to rebuild them both, as they are most likely due at this point. I was...
Glad to hear it works! I figured I could help you with that because driving without turn signals is no fun- especially at night. You got a good price on that relay, and you're lucky to have...
Hi Maikl,
My 1956 Buick uses a TUNGSOL P273D relay and it works well. My parts
car also has one of these in it. So, I assume it's the correct one. I wonder
if the one you tried was defective?...
I'll post this just for reference.
Last June, I bought a parts car for my '56 Special 4 door. The only problem with the parts car was it had been sitting up on blocks in this junkyard for 25 years;...
Wow!:jeez: That's one of the prettiest 322's I've ever seen! Puts my greasy-grimy clunker to shame. But, hey, not only does your truck have great character, I bet it'll move, too!
Keep up...
Well, I got the new plugs in. Advance Auto was out of the Champion and AC Delco plugs, so I bought AutoLite #85 plugs. so far, so good! And again, thanks for the advice, guys! :bgrin:

Cool! Champion's the brand I prefer, anyway!:bgrin:
Thanks!

Well, the other day I looked at my plugs, and they are shot. Then I realized I was out of the N.O.S. AC 44 plugs I bought at a swap-meet. So, I wondered what everyone else uses in thier 322 engines? ...
I know from the factory, my 56 Buick (with 322) had 2" exhaust. When I ran true duals, I stayed with that diameter, because I didn't have to change as much. However, I don't really see any problem...
Cool!:bgrin: And if you do get it, please post some photos!

My boss has a '58 Century Convertible. It's just as beautiful of a car as that. He gave me some old dealership lit. for the 1958 model Buicks, from what I can see, I agree with alleycat, it is an...
Chrome paint... I uh, never have thought highly of it. But, I ran across this stuff, "Killer Chrome", yesterday, and this it looks better than the rest... For chrome PAINT, though, wow!:jeez: The...
Hey, here's a REAL do-it-yourself project:
I found this site on one of my recent wanderings of the web. This "Alumilite" company makes and sells cold-catalyzing plastics and molding supplies....
Hey man, here's some inspiration:
Ever since I can remember, me Grampa has had this ugly old 1970 Cadillac Deville with all this surface rust. He went thru 5 or more trans. in 30 yrs just because of...

I once read a 322 Nailhead has more low-end torque than a Chevy 350! :shifter:

The P225's are closer to the size of the original bias-ply tires that were on it from the factory. Two years ago, I bought Sears Guardsman 40's with a 3" whitewall for my '56. (Haha, yes, Sears tires...
Good grief! :jeez: That was just a few days before 9/11! I was 11 years old! That's even before I'd ever used a computer...(or worked on a Buick, for that matter...)

Hey, that looks sweet!

My '56 Special used to do that, too. I would also have to hold the shift lever down so it wouldn't slip out of reverse. It turned out my linkage needed adjustment. You might look into that... Anyway,...
Cool! Those new wheels are pretty slick! :bgrin:

The fuel pump was the problem. I was only getting a little more than 2.5 PSI at the pump inlet.

I had a similar problem with the gauge in my '56. It either read completely empty or completely full. I tested everything you did, but I finally found that the wires on the back of the gauge were...
Thanks for that bit of information, McGuireV10, I'll give that a look.
