I have a set of 300 V8 aluminum heads from my 64 Skylark. I'm trying to decide if I should sell them or not. I've got an off of $125 for them.
Should I sell or wait for the market to "mature"?
Oh, hey... helps if I read the replies.
I guess I still have it wrong. I'll try to explain what I want to do:
I have 2 sets of heads.
One set is later, low compression (7.9:1) with smaller exhaust valves.
The other set is...
I guess before I swap the smaller exhaust valves in to the higher compression heads I have I should ask the question:
Can exhaust valves be swapped between early and late heads?

Definitely planning on a cam and possibly an intake if I can get my hands on one cheap. I just found out that some 455 heads I picked up a few months back are the earlier 8.5:1 heads.
The later...
I just bought a 455 and plan on putting it in my 64 Skylark. The engine appears to be a 70-76 motor by the casting numbers but that is about all the info I can gather.
Since I'm new, is there...
I have a 64 Buick with a 300 and have explored different options with Rover V8 because there aren't a lot of aftermarket parts out there. The only thing I have done so far is put a set of polished...
Does anyone know where I can get a flywheel for my 1964 Skylark. I am putting a 4-speed in. I've got all the parts except the flywheel.

Found them at All American Classics in Vancouver off a 300 sitting upside-down in the weeds. Thanks for the advice.

Jeez. I really effed up. I guess I'll try and find a donor car.

I recently broke a motor mount and I am having a hell of a time finding a replacement. No one (including YearOne, OPGI, etc) seems to carry mounts for a 64 300. I have found 65-67 300 mounts, but...
I recently took my 64 Skylark to the PIR Friday night drags (video here). She did a best of 16.9 at 82MPH with a 0.021 reaction time. Not very fast. She's got a 300 with 4-barrel Carter AFB and the...

I've got one already, but it never hurts to have a spare.
Thanks!

In 64, the 300 came in two options. Standard and what was called the Power-Pack. Both had aluminum heads and intake (as well as front water pump and front of the engine). The difference is in the...
I would stick with the stock manifolds. The design on the 300 is pretty good. Port match or extrude hone them if you want a little more performance but the design has already got pretty decent flow. ...
My 64 Skylark has a Carter AFB on it's 300. Is yours the aluminum intake? Don't know if it makes a difference. In the end, if the Rochester came on the 4-bbl intake, it will probably work.
As far...
I've just recently got my Skylark painted and I am going about the long, laborious task of putting all the chrome back on. The last pieces I have are the side pieces that go down the waistline of the...
I've got an extra 300 w/Aluminum heads and intake too! Thanks, but I think I would get in trouble with the wife if I had another engine sitting around the house.
As far as any BOP bellhousing...
I'd like to put a 4-speed in my 64 Skylark with a 300. I need all the parts, but the items I need first are the bellhousing (including throwout arm) and flywheel. Saginaws are easy to find but these...
I understand that a leaf-spring suspension won't bolt right up to my trailing arm suspension but I heard that you could swap all the brackets and it would work. It would require some welding, but in...
I thought I could link to the pictures up on my blog or flickr account. Guess not. Here is a link to the Flickr page:

I am planning to put a Saginaw 4-speed in my 1964 Buick Skylark. It's got a 300 V8 and I wonder if the crankshaft is pre-drilled for the pilot bushing. Does anyone know what I am talking about?
...
It's taken about 4 months and it will probably take me another 3 months to put all the chrome on, but it is FINALLY FINISHED!! The end result is even better than I imagined. I can't wait to get her...
I have a 64 Skylark with the 300V8 Four-barrel. I bought the car (15 years ago) be because I thought I could put a lot of Chevy parts in it. Since then I have become a bit of a purist. I love that...
