Looking for front and back window regulators for 47 Buick Special Series 40 Sedanette. Or information on compatible regulators that will fit this car. Thanks.
Pete
I don’t think there’s anyway I can ask this without sounding stupid but when you say left terminal do you mean the drivers side or passenger side? I don’t want to fry anything.
Its always great...
Oh jeeze. Can’t believe I didn’t give that information. It’s a 1950 248 on a 1947 Special series 40 chasis.
Pete
Can anyone tell me how to start my engine on a rolling chasis. I tried putting the coil to the positive battery terminal and touching the positive terminal to the battery but the starter just spins...
I am wiring my 1947 Buick Special Series 40. The engine is a 248 from a 1950 special, or so I'm told. Now, I'm rewiring it with wires that are not the proper colors as stated in the diagrams in...
Thanks Ben. I do have the manuals and the wiring diagrams. I will be using both the 47 and 50 diagrams to wire the car because the 47 diagram doesn't show the defroster or heater motor wiring and the...
I have a 1947 Buick Special Series 40 Sedanette with a 248. I am in the process of doing a frame off restoration. Well the body is back on the frame and the engine is in. The original engine had to...
5039Looks like it's broken off in the head. It's too cold in the garage to investigate right now so I'll have to wait for abreak in the weather to get a closer look.
Thanks guys for helping me...
I am trying to figure out where the location of the temp sending unit bulb is located on the block of my 1950 248. When I got the engine it had a petcock in the block located below and to the left...
Thanks guys. Completely missed link provided. It appears I have a water pump for a Dynoflow but have a manual trans. The motor was originally coupled with a Dynoflow trans but I swapped the crank...
Yes Ben, you're correct, I made a typing error but what about the heating hose, any info on that?
Hi,
Can anyone help me with the correct routing of the hoses coming off the water pump to the defroster and then to the under seat heater. The motor is a 1952 248 and the car is a 1947 Special...
Does anyone have a diagram for a 1947 Special Series 40 with a 248 exhaust diagram with bending measurements. Something I can take to a local exhaust shop to have a system fabbed up.
Thanks
Pete
Believe it or not this is all working out for the better. I'm actually glad its a 248, this way no modifications to radiator positionong are needed. And I've had the original 248 crank sitting...
Thank you Ray.
Thanks but doesn't help. Reference just gives years engine number were in. Need to know if corresponding engine number is 248 or 263.
Well I finally am ready to install the newly ground crankshaft into the 263 block. The crank was ground and straightened. I removed the original crank and bought new bearings properly sized but...
Can anyone tell me what year and size my engine is. 5609459-4 I thought it was a 263 from a 1952 but I am having trouble with parts fitting when I buy them. I've check the references but am...
Mmmm. Guess I am looking for a rim that will drive safely and accept a buick hub cap. I'll check Stockton.
Thanks
Does anyone know where I can get a new set of rims that will fit my 47 Special Series 40?

Just saw your thread. I have a 248 engine sitting in my driveway I need to get rid of. It will need total rebuilding and I don't know if block has any cracks. Don't know where you are. I'm in...
You would need to have existing holes welded solid and then you would be able to drill new holes but that still leaves you with the problem of center hole being a different diameter. There are also...
