I think it is on the driver side cowl under the hood. I don't have a picture of one from 1979, but attached is a picture from a 1978.

Trim 139 is Fawn Vinyl with bucket front seats, available on style 4167.
Your body tag and your VIN both indicate V8 and match perfectly, it's just that Fisher did things differently on the body tag than Buick did for the VIN in 1967, this makes 1967 one of the most...
Yes, it is numbers matching as the engine serial number should be the same as the last part of the VIN.

67 = 2-door...
My guess is that Fisher was responsible for the trim tag and Buick was responsible for the VIN tag, and since Fisher and Buick are separate companies they didn't always do things exactly the same way...

Your Fisher body tag lists the Fisher body plant code as BF and not B. The Fisher body plant code BF would be expected for a car built at Fremont, CA as indicated by the Buick plant code Z in the...
1967 is tricky year. The Buick VIN number and the Fisher body tag decode differently, which is causing the confusion over V8 vs V6. Buick changed the VIN scheme in 1967 so the the last six digits of...

Unfortunately the serial number won't help with determining the body number or any of the other items on the trim tag. You should get a chassis service manual:

The serial number won't tell you much. The Century came with either the 6-bolt top cover synchromesh manual transmission or the Dynaflow automatic.

I think it is probably just a mistake on the POP, definitely not the first one I've seen. You can always check to see what is actually stamped on the transmission. Here is a link from the 1966...
It would be helpful if we knew where these codes are coming from (POP, buildsheet, trim tag, etc.) and to get a picture.

Any chance you can post a picture of the engine serial number? I suspect it might be 48Z111695, which would make sense from a Buick perspective. I've attached a picture of a similar engine number...
