you'll need to measure the freeze plug hole with a calipers.
Ebay has the yellow 10-12 gauge bullet connectors listed. You just need to open the bullet end up a little with a small screw driver and they work great!

bottom is gas and top is vacuum (for wipers).
The Sedanette is the 2 door fastback. Its a shorter body than the regular 2 door sedan. I have a 4 door fastback which is NOT a Sedanette. The rear window should be the same though.
Go to Napa and tell them you need a coil resistor. If they need an application, a 1956 Desoto Fireflite will work.
6 volt Starter will work on 12v, but mine just gave out after 60 years...

Can anybody tell me of a modern crossover for the '50 Special (248) water pump pulley? Mine is cracked. I don't think it can handle the stress of an alternator.
Thanks! You can see from my avatar that I tow a trailer. That pic is from northern Michigan and I live in Oregon... The only problem I had on that trip was from an air shock that I had twisted...
Yes. I used what I had. I didn't realize I could just cut the rears also until after I bought the Camino springs. The weight of the car holds them in place perfectly. I don't think the fronts...
Dynaflow Front pump = Torque converter on other transmissions.
Raise the car up on jack stands and remove the rear wheels. Start it and run it up to 50 and see if you still get the vibration.
Could be vacuum leak. Vacuum @ idle should be better than 17in. I grew up in Berkley...
You may also have a vacuum leak at the manifold or carb... On mine the inside of the carb heater chamber (part connected to exhaust) had holes inside.
I was getting a lot of chatter from my water pump, so I took in my spare to a local guy for rebuilding. This took several weeks so while I was waiting I thought I'd see if there was anything I could...
Generators don't put out any juice at idle RPM's if your doing a lot of in town stop & go you may be wearing down your battery. Also these cars were designed to drive on the right side of the road...
Those are the right plugs Jyrki.
Nice!
The Super and Special have the same Body (3 portholes on hood) the Roadmaster has a longer body (4 portholes).
I've used Dexron iii for about 5 years now, including towing a 14' canned ham. My '50 Special runs just fine...
I bought one of these from napa, but no diagram was included. do you know the connections? From the little picture on that link, it looks like battery and starter go to big posts and starter switch...

I have a '50 Special 4 dr. Fastback
Part# for 1950 Roadmaster is NOS 19969 at Napa.
Harbor Freight stand scared me also, so I just made a piano dolly type roll around out of 2x4's. I stood the engine verticle on its tranny mount for most of the build. Worked great!
The water pump on my 50 is making a similar noise right now and I'm looking for a replacement. If oiling the Generator bearings doesn't make it go away its probably the pump.
Not all '50's had a 2 piece windshield! The Special had a 2 piece, but the Super and Roadmaster had a 1 piece, stock.
Try bobsclassicautoglass(.com) here in Oregon. he had the correct one for...
