Does anyone know if the auto tranny from a 1951 Pontiac 268 will bolt to a 41 Buick 320 ? Will the 268 Flexplate mate with the 320 starter and crank ?
In a case like this I have found it necessary to take the part to a good machine shop and let them loosen it. They are easy to break, and parts are not easy to find.:bgrin:
I have an engine stand that I built for my 320 Cube Straight 8 when I was getting the engine ready for installation into my T-Bucket. It mounts using the original engine mounts forward, and at the...
I used a 3 speed from a 1954 Chevy. The upper bolt holes are the same, the lower bolt holes have to be redrilled. The spline is the same and I used a clutch fork and clutch bearing from the 54 Chevy....
Try scanning an exhaust gasket in to your computer at full size and take it to your machinist at work.

Whats next to it is a 39 Pontiac. I had the Buick engine in it for a while, but my son and his wife said they wanted the Pontiac. My son and I are now putting the Buick engine in the T-Bucket.
Some one said about a year ago they wanted to see an inline 8 in a T-Bucket. Here is a picture of mine. Still under construction. To see a better picture go to Anything new from the straight 8 hot...

You might try adding a vacuum resevoir tank to your system to hold vacuum for when it is needed. A 1 gallon tank with valving should work for most applications.
If all else fails you can buy Spark Plug Non-Foulers at almost any auto parts store. I used to sell them when I worked at Autozone. What they are, are spacers than you screw your spark plug into,...
I am looking in my 1939 - 1953 Motors Manual. Page 7 and 8 is an exploded view of the distributor. I see the grease cup opposite, but I do not see the boss, screw and spring on the picture. The...
I am presently building a 39 Pontiac 4 Door that I have put a Buick 320 Straight 8 into. I plan to have it running and registered by spring, I have already had the State of Utah inspect it and...
I called Atomic Speedware and asked if they could make me some Straight 8 pistons and was told that it would not be a problem. You might call and ask them. The Buick/Olds 403 is the same piston bore...
I was playing with the idea of making my own head for my 320 engine. I am an Electronic Tech by trade, but have done some Mechanical Engineering in my day. I found on line companies that are willing...
I am presently building a 1940's hot rod. It is a 1939 :shifter:Pontiac 4 door Silver Streak that I am installing a Buick 320 Cu in engine in. As many of you know, the 320 engine is very long. It is...
I just put a stock 1952 4 barrel carband manifolds on my 41 320 cube engine. I paid $50.00 for carb and manifolds. Manifold had to be surfaced before installation, carb works great after 57 years.
I installed rubber 1-7/8 inch expanding plugs in my 320. They work just as well and are a lot easier to install. They stand up fine to the pressure, which in cars this old is only about 5 psi. ...
Are you sure that you are tightening the adjusting nut properly so the lash doesn't Change ? Not tightening the nut can cause this.
Check your ignition points and see if they are burnt, or not fully closing. I have got engines started in the past by making sure the points were fully closing. The points can appear to close, but...
Can you post a picture of it, then maybe identification could be easier.
Always use Rotella 15-40. Diesel oil has protective additives that by law have been removed from gasoline engine oil. This might not last too long as there are politicians who want the additives...
I have a 41 Straight 8, 320. It has 41000 original miles and came with the original dual carb and dual exhaust manifold. I just bought an original 1952 four barrel manifold and original carb which...
