a stock 455 exhaust manifold from any year Buick should fit a 65 skylark chassis easily. either you have the engine installed incorrectly or you don't have a 400- 455 exhaust manifold

Bob, I was looking for the section with engine specs and dimensions but can't seem to find it.. stuff liked bore, stroke rod length and things of that nature. is it gone or did I just imagine it was...
Walt,
i'd suspect it wouldnt be much different than a stock 340 with a cam. ported heads also help the cylinders fill at low RPM and would have an effect on hp and torque at lower rpms. dont forget...
nothin fancy unless you count the 100 hours of porting work that would cost the average guy about 5 grand at a conservative labor rate of 50.00 per hour.
i am building a buick 300 and seeing this article made me smile. nice to see people building oddbal stuff. I have a rare aluminum single plane intake and will be turbo charging my 300. I live in...
well i'd be interested in it at 250.00 if you happen to be passing thru salem, i'm actually right off hwy 22 in Aumsville and have a hoist. Bob
the buick 350 interchanges fairly easily so to be honest there isnt a lot of demand for the 340 or 300 other than the 300 crankshaft which Rover guys use to stroke their little 215. a rebuildable 455...
Keep in mind that the term "rust free" means something entirely different to a Minnesotsa guy compared to somebody from the west coast or southwest. might want to have somebody inspect it for you.
just an FYI for ya
I see your asking 500.00, partially disassembled and not running you will be fortunate to get half that amount. All american in vancouver wants 400 for a complete core and they...
i'd be interested in the 340 if you happened to be traveling towards Salem and wanted to drag it along. i'd give you fair rebuildable core value for it. Bob
not a chance on earth of getting 1200 dollars for a set of 64 aluminum heads.. more like 200.00
not stage 1 heads. pistons look stock as well
something to keep in mind is that the Buick 300 is the same engine as a 3.8 V 6 but with 2 extra cylinders. same stroke, same deck height and same bore( if you bore it .050) the TA heads are an...
There has already been one ported iron head stock intake procharged buick 350 that made over 1000 hp. it had a lot of special parts. my 500 hp project is easily feasable. the oiling system is...
my plans for the 300 engine in my special include the following,
Eagle rods CRS6000S3D 4340 FORGED H-BEAMROD 6.000'' (small journal 327)
buick forged 3.8 turbo pistons
TA heads and the new 215...
pay close attention to the rod bolts and cam lobes as there will be minimal clearance with the 340-350 crank in a 300 block. curious as to what you did with the different main journal size of the...
67 style oil pan is reproduced by TA performance and gas tanks are available through year one. goodmark and a few other restoration vendors. Good luck on your project, I wish i still owned a 67 GS400
400 and 430 use the exact same block. all you have to do is bore it out to 430 size. no sonic test needed, this has been a trick known by Buick guys since the 400's first came out. I have done this a...
new stock springs will probably perk it up a bunch as the old ones are most likely a little weak from age and may have settled more than you think. next option would be springs from a 67 big block...
the oiling system is the weakest point in all big block buicks. don't over rev them. make sure you have good oil pressure and regular oil changes with a good quality oil filter ( NOT FRAM!!)
Sorry but i think you have unreal expectations. you can't buy the titanic and expect it to be able to handle and excellerate like a JET SKI without spending thousands and thousands of dollars
an engine that has been line honed or line bored can have a looser than normal timing chain. they have undersize timing sets to compensate for this problem
if that were the case then he would have coolant in the cylinders and not seeping externally into the lifter valley
Head gaskets go on dry with no sealer. try retorqing the heads although if it were me i would disassemble the engine to inspect it. it would be worth the cost of a new gasket set just to know whats...
I'm pretty sure felpro only makes one gasket for all of the big blocks (400-430-455) any chance the heads were not torqued correctly? did you have the heads checked for cracks?
