pretty sure that they have a nut on the back side.if you take the panel off under the rear window you should be able to reach up under the head liner to get to them.good luck let me know if i'm wrong.

sounds like a vacuum leak.check all your lines for breaks or cracks.make sure they are all plugged in to something.if alls well in that area you might have bigger problems like intake leaks.

on my 69 skylark the original vents went to a charcoal can under the hood.i took the can and mounted it in the trunk then just ran hoses to it.seems to work.
