Bob the early 53 322 and 54-55 264 had a cast iron one piece pulley/hub so welding is not a good option. I looked into adding a pulley to them but nothing we could come up with would work..

I just measured a crank and got 2.5. The 264/322 is about .060 smaller. Hard to say how much you can remove off the crank, rope seal maybe more forgiving with nicks and pits. My website has free...
That part is very hard to find, the best way we have found is to re-balance a 322 damper to match the 264 spec's and then you can use the 322 pulleys. Contact use through the website.. Russ
I have found the most common cause is a bad disc because of a flattened cushion spring. The center of the disc's have a large wavy spring, this acts a cushion between the two clutch friction...
I have come across this before with a 53 322, the 53-56 cranks are suppose to be the same but some of the Dynaflow cranks are not deep enough for the 53 convertor snout. There are so many one year...
The Dynaflow is different than a newer trans, the convertor is held in with a bolt. You can't get to that bolt without splitting the convertor, meaning removing all the outer convertor bolts. It...
Hi, we are very close to you in Grass Valley CA, about 1.5 hours away. Check out my website nailheadbuick.com. Russ
Slinger rings? if you are talking about grooves cut in a spiral on the seal surface of the crank? Nailhead's don't have them. That is something Ford and some others have used.. I am adding more tech...
Go to my website and read the tech info, it will give an idea of what is needed.. nailheadbuick.com Russ
We find that sometimes the seals need to be clipped to fit properly. I pioneered the rubber crank seal back in 82 (as far as I know). If the builder used a rope seal he also must have used Felpro...
On the st400 swap, the 364 will need a different counter balance that the 401 so good idea to have flexplate balanced for a 364 or buy a new we have. We also have the 364 and 401 flexplates with both...
If it works sometimes it sounds like the starter drive clutch is bad, sometimes wrongly called a Bendix, Bendix drives were used on older ford's and other makes but not GM cars, they had a worm shaft...
All Buick engines are externally balanced, as for as I know the Buick 300-340 and 350 has the same counter weight? I Can check the parts books tomorrow. I have been swapping them without problems so...
There are more differences going from 56 to 57 and later than you can imagine and the least is wheel base. Buick had several transmissions lengths too just going from small to large series in the...
Make sure a valve is not stuck down, that is more often the problem that a stuck lifter.. If any lifters are stuck they are easy to remove, take apart and clean.. Also make sure the cam is not shot...
I have all kinds of free tech info on building and modifying these engines in my website.. nailheadbuick.com
That is really strange, the LR is a 65 Gran Sport 400 (401) the only other time the R was used was on the 66 Gran Sport and the 62-63 Two barrel LeSabre.
Ok, that makes sense, I am still learning and every now and then new info .. But the question still is what are the other two letters on this engine so it can be ID?
We have built over a 100 nailheads, maybe closer to 150, last year we built 20, every one of the 57-66 engines have numbers and letters stamped on them, the second digit in the vin stamp is a letter...
There must be two letters on the top of the block you are not telling me about, they are on the passenger side top of the block, near the vin number you gave me. Those two letters maybe stamped...
H would mean the block is a 61, that is not and easy swap into a 65.. The 61 block is a one year only, it had a different oil pump that only works on a rear sump pan, your car has a center sump oil...
There are two letters stamped in the top of the block in front of the valley cover, it will be LT (401) LW (425 single carb) or LX (2 carb) forget about the numbers, look for the letters. It may not...
I may have a source where I can get one, contact me m-f 9-5 CA time 530-272-1564
That is a one year only transmission mount, send yours out for rebuilding, you will get new soft rubber and it will work great.. I think Steele Rubber does it.. Don't waste time looking for a new...
Unless you have a vacuum reservoir (that holds vacuum) the engine will have to be running for it to work with that later unit. The trunk unit is for the A body only if I remember correctly.
