Thanks. Looking at that diagram, I should be able to trace it back from the relay to the coil. I will also read through the text and see if it indicates a resistance value so I can test it.
Where is the resistance wire located on a '60 Electra ? I have checked the firewall and the inner fender, but no sign of it. Is it a ceramic block, or, as the name suggests, an actual wire and if so,...
So basically, the answer is no, without a bit of modification to the sump, which then involves changing the oil pickup.
Will it bolt straight up if I leave the Dynaflow in place, rather than changing to an open drive ? My existing motor needs a rebuild and I can buy a '63 motor in good running order for a reasonable...
Looking good !!
Where have you been for the past 6 weeks ? No updates from you. How is it going ?
What price did you put on it local ?
Wheel cylinders. There must be a leak somewhere if you are unable to build pressure when you bleed it.
Sounds like you have a leak. Remove the brake drums and have a look at the master cylinders. You DO NOT need either a residual valve or a proportioning valve. There is a residual valve in the system...
That's great motivation for moving forward and getting it finished ! Well done.
Why not go electric ?

It'll handle it no problem. A rear speaker was an option for most models, and standard in the convertible I think.
You can control the volume from the radio, but not the % going to the front or rear. That's what the fader is for. You should be able to get one from Radio Shack or someone like that.
That's about it - and for the back seat passengers of course. If you put one in the back, you should also put in a fader switch so you can change it from front to back. Not sure if they are wired in...
It's 4 ohm, but the radio is mono, not stereo, so by installing the rear speaker, you are still only going to have mono.
Valid point, but hopefully they did not do too much in the way of the valves - other than lapping them. They are very close to the water jackets, and why it is never recommended to install hardened...
Get a long length of rubber hose and use it is a stethoscope and go round the engine and accessories.
OK, you are going by the firing order. I was assuming you had numbered them 1,2,3,4 on the right bank and 5,6,7,8 on the left bank. (as viewed from inside the car).
It would make more sense if the...
You can't go too much from that. The heads are all different castings so they will fit where they fit. Likewise, the "dampness" could have come from anywhere. Only real way is to pull the heads when...
General rule of thumb is a tolerance of 10% between cylinders, so 3 & 7 are outside of that range. However, since you are going to pull the heads anyway to check the gaskets, have the valves checked...
You have a '60 system, with a different brake booster/master. Effectively, this is the only change. OK, you didn't have a booster before, but that only makes the effort expended easier when applying...
I don't think you need to install a proportioning valve. The '70 may have one - it is drum/drum, but the '60 doesn't have one or need one. They are generally installed on disc/drum setup cars because...
I suspect that was all added before the motor was rebuilt as it got too smoky. Shouldn't be needed on a good engine and the pipe at the rear of the engine running from the inlet manifold seems to do...
All you have to do is make the same countersink holes for the converter, then you don't have to mess around with welding or anything else. You can make the bracket out of a radio support bracket -...
