leo, I had the generator mount extended. See where the front arm bows towards the front? Had that cut off, another bow made that reached farther towards the front and welded on. Use a piece of all...

I have never bought an overhaul set in which the seals were not included. Anything is possible, I suppose. Buy the set and see. If they are not there, THEN yell loudly
Ben
Jefro, you have confused me! Not difficult, I know. Do you have a Roadmaster or a Special? You say" roadmaster 40". A 40, if indicating series is a Special.
Ben
Sure. Is the fan in front of the radiator or between it and the engine? Can you post a picture of the fan/shroud?
Ben
I have always lived by the rule that if it would not cool at speed, but would at slow speed/idle, the radiator is at fault. If air flow, due to anything, is at fault, it would show up at idle before...
My 1950 248 has the same rocker arm adjusters and hollow pushrods as does the hydraulic lifter cars. Some time late 1950 or early 1951, the mechanical lifter engines were changed to no oil hole in...
Wow! That is quite a mulligan. Hope you enjoy it. Pictures appreciated.
Ben
Welcome to our little world, Gregg
The number you posted is indeed a 1940 number. About 10,000 in from the start of the 1940 production. About as close as you will get. Buick numbers were not...
Well, that is good. It can be installed in the '37. The front plat that has the motor mounts on the '37 will interchange. How about pictures of the car and the Engine.
If the 263 came from a...
Tom, you will need to buy a crank dampner/pulley. The pulley is bradded on. They are available.
Ben
Would you install them on a straight eight? I have thought about doing so. Just not sure of the method .
Ben
Welcome, Kerry
The "small" b was used as a 6, or turned upside down, a 9, by Buick. Probability is your spare is a 1951 by the number. Pre ww2, the first digit, 6 in your case, denoted series....
Best get a genuine 1958 Buick Shop Manual. They are available on line.
Someone may come on here with advice. A little new for me.:D. If not
There is a good '58 presence on AACA org. Scroll down...
Wayne, I am pretty sure the flywheel is the same. I have one from a '42 on my 263. I believe drilling the flywheel bolt holes will/does work.
On the engine with a # starting with R, remember...
Bob, sounds like the heater core has sprung a leak. The hose is most likely the drain for the AC condensation to drain thru. It is draining a "pan" beneath the AC evaporator and heater core. ...
And he has them for the straight eight. I have one. It is great!
Ben
Whew! I was worried for nothing. When is this happening?
Ben
PLEASE tell me you are not using a SBC.
Ben
When you say "building" ,what is planned. I have done that . Upped compression, bored out, head work. If advice is wanted, ask. If not, I will be following.
The answer to the cam question is yes....
I have had several Buick 3 speeds. Never a failure. Have one p[1950] now.
Ben
Wayne, I do not know where I saw that #. Sure can't find it now!
Indeed, the engine in your picture is a 1950 263, per the engine serial #. Tha "I" is Buick for 1. As well, a b is used for 6...
Wayne, if I may see pictures of it I can identify it. Specifically the driver side from manifold down. Good view of the side of the block. Engine number, from pass side just in front of the...
I believe it will.
I have always wanted a '40 coupe.
Ben
I don't THINK so. Completely different body. I would be surprised if even the side glass interchanged. I could be wrong, don't think so though.
Ben
Welcome to our BUICK world
Mine did. I have done a 248 and a 263. Like to never found a "combination" that would bolt up.
It will be DIFFICULT to rotate, due to the leverage from the...
