Late model? 1994 Regal AC problem

My control panel got balky, then quit.
The buttons are supposed to push on and stay locked in until you push again and that turns it off.
You can hold mine in and generally get it to work but it won't stay engaged. All the buttons on the unit failed at the same time.
I found the "convenience center" behind a cover under the passenger side dash. It has 1 large relay, 2 normal sized relays, a fuse (good), a white box protruding from the panel and 3 steel plug ins.
Nothing explains what these are in the owners manual, or the Haynes manual (useless).
Can any one help?
