I’m an old -71 Buick skylark owner
Hi!
I’m an old -71 Buick skylark owner.
I owned this Buick longer then I has been married to my wife, but she (the woman) and I was “together” before I bought the car…
It’s a 350 car with a -68 PP (4-bbl 10:1) engine. (Stock -71 2bbl in garage with bad crank)
It got a crane cam and dough’s headers Holley 650 spread bore vac sec carb. with 50cc acc pump. And a 2” 4 hole spacer
Dave Ray/ Ignition Man instruction rebuild to full int. vac and recurv distributor with crane “pointless” kit.
Blocked exhaust passages to intake
TH350 with “lose” converter prox. 2200-2400 stall. 3:08 lim slip rear end still on 14” rims to get higher engine rpms (cheaper and simpler than changing rear axle “again” vas like 2.92 open?)
Crossover pipe on dual exh.
Disk front brakes. (Was drums)
Added the headers late this summer, but not happy with them as I lost too much ground clearance..
Some one at that factory is not the sharpest knife in the box, placing one of the collector bolt holes at 6 clock (down lowest)
–the collector flange is welded to the header and I did not think much of that until it touched / kissed the ground when I backed out from the driveway first time..
And I got 12 1” + 2 ¾ bolts instead of 14 1” bolts as in there instruction/packing list and they don’t answer my e-mail when I try to get them to send me 2 more 1” bolts. The ¾ don’t work – to short. had to use 2 1" hex head bolts :^^:
I join this forum as I can see and read a lot of info here.
-I think there is a lot of good info. Here, and as I’m about to “go 455” in the “ragtop” I need all help to not do all possible mistakes!
