well, since you're modding the car anyways, is there a possibility that you could fit a full racing fuel cell back there?
then you could mount anything you wanted.

Speedway also has what they call a "universal" sending unit:

Tank pick up options
Thanks, looked at the option links you sent. Leads to question, did GM ever provide a 5 on 5 lug 15in "mini spare"?
I suppose if I cut out the whole trunk pan mounted the spare vertically on one side and a long narrow tank on the other I might still have room in the center for a couple of carry on bags. Seems like it would be cheaper to just cut off half the top of the stock tank and weld on a shorter box that would have a 6+in flat spot to mount the pump and assy like the "universal" pump mount shown in the 2nd link. I had been looking at that unit as provided by Tanks Inc . It can reach 11 in deep and requires a 6IN plus dia flat spot into which you drill a 4 1/2 in hole to put the unit down through. I'm following a lead on a guy in Phoenix who has done a number of EFI conversions on Buicks. Will post results.

Remote Reservoir
I have seen some FI conversions that can use a remote fuel reservoir. The OE mechanical pump feeds the reservoir usually mounted on the firewall. An electric pump in the reservoir feeds the FI unit. That way the OE tank and lines can be used.

Remote Reservoir
Should have put this in the first reply. Edelbrock makes the remote reservoir, pump and all the bits necessary.
