Work on my 65 Special Convertible is progressing nicely. The motor is rebuilt and the outside is ready for color. However, I've begun to realize with a sinking feeling that my 10 year old interior restoration will look shabby. The worst item is the original steering wheel. Don't know if there are multiple types of steering wheels that came on this car, but mine is the simple body color 2 spoke wheel (the spokes are 180 deg from each other, aka a straight line) with the chrome center that goes all the way across. Is there a source for new wheels or restoration of old ones? Mine is badly cracked in a number of places, with gaps of over 1/8 inch. Any suggestions?

Eastwood company makes a polymer wheel repair kit that I have had excellent results with. Once cured it is impervious to hot/cold temp changes. I have used it a number of times. The process is time consuming, but it worth it if you are the do it yourself type. Once you have finished with filling and sanding of the wheel have the wheel painted at a local body shop and have them put on a number of coats of clear. If you don't feel like going this route there are a few companies out there that specialize in steering wheel rebuilding

Por-15 also makes a Steering Wheel Refurb Kit.
