open drive shaft
Doing a rear axle and trans change on my 1956 Special. Putting in a 700r4 with 10 bolt gm rear axle. 4 link suspension which I purchased of ebay, got the trans for $100.00 and added $100.00 for speedo change and all new seals plus lockup kit. Rear axle $100.00 plus $200.00 for disc brakes $ 600.00 for the eng to trans adaptor. There is about another $200.00 to spend to complete project. It is about a cheap as you can get. I hope this helps:shifter:

If you're going through the trouble of removing the body and updating the rear end why not just stick the body on something newer? Buick wagon or something? There are some frames with the same wheel base that with a little fab work would give you an entirely updated front and rear end. Just a thought. Nothing like mudding up the waters a bit... ha! :clonk:
