Hi I am a newbie
I bought a short block Nailhead and I am not able to decode any of the numbers that are on it using this web site or any of my books.
casting number is 1176201, Engine code in the front is PB, Serial number 7D2013580, Serial number I3I468
it also has popup pistons that look that they my be factory.
If anyone can help me decode the block I would really appreciate it

7D2013580 = serial number (VIN) of donor car
7 = Series 70/Roadmaster
D = 1957 model year
2 = South Gate, CA
013580 = sequential number, range for South Gate was 001001 to 038462
131468 = engine serial number, just a sequential number
(the I's are meant to be read as 1's)
The only engine Buick made in 1957 was the 364 nailhead. You say the engine code is PB, but Buick didn't start using an engine production code until the 1959 model year, so if you can post a picture of that we can see what you are looking at.
