Decoding a 1967 Build Sheet
I recent purchased a 1967 GS 400 and have most of the original documentation - the build sheet and protecto plates were included. After checking out some of the threads here, I have determined what a lot of the numbers mean, but could not figure everything out. Any help would be appreciated in deciphering these numbers.
Here are the numbers (with what I figured out):
VIN: 446177B114527 (Buick GS 400 2 door hardtop coupe built in Baltimore)
Body Plate:
01B (January, 1967, second week)
44617 (same as VIN)
198 (Black Vinyl interior)
172 (Job #)
BAL 917 (917th GS 400 body in Baltimore)
R2 (Apple Red, black vinyl roof)
418384 (??)
Build Sheet (a lot matching body plate data):
Sequence: 785
Mo. & Day: 01, 10
Job: 172
Style: 44617
Body No. 000917
Trim: 198
Seat: B (Assuming Bucket - as installed)
Paint: R2
First Group: E (??)
Second Group: 2C_EZG_ _R (??)
Third Group: empty
Fourth Group: 4F_ _ _HC (??)
Fifth Group: 5K_ _ _Y (??)
F & SO-COPO: Empty
Last block: 418384 (??)
Protecto Plates:
J E Bickers 04-126 (Dealer ??)
6111 N 18th St 02-04-7 (Delivery Date ??)
Arlington VA 7B114527
198 RR (Trim & paint ??) 446177B114527
NR227 (Transmission ??) OX (??) S (??)
BA346 (??) 2814 (radio ??)
Engine: 7B11457 (stamped on driver's side between exhaust ports) & 400 1381624 (casting above bell housing mount.)
I don't have any numbers from the transmission right now.
From what I see, everything matches and the engine is original. As far as the codes on the build sheet and the protecto plates, I have no idea what they mean.
Since this is my first post here, let me know if I am asking for too much at the same time. Also, if pictures would be helpful, please let me know.
Thanks,
John
