I have just brought a 54 century, with no engine. I was wondering what is the easiest v8 to put in and what gearbox and prop issues i will have. It still has original gearbox but been stood for a long time so not looking too healthy! Not had time to pull out and have a look yet.
Please help.

Easiest engine to put in it??? How 'bout a '54 Buick Nailhead??? That's the engine it came with, so you don't have to change the motor-mounts or anything. Also, it's a V8, there's companies that still make parts for them (Kanter Auto Products; Egge Obsolete Engine Parts), and they're just freakin' cool!

if you can locate one , i would go with a 1956 322 cu.in. nailhead engine and transmission. will bolt right in with no modifications. better engine and better trans. than 1954 models.:bana:

I don't think that the output shaft of the '56 transmission will mate up to the '54 driveshaft. The splines are different?
