windshield and rear glass reveal trim installation

Greetings,

I recently worked to remove and replace the vinyl top on a 1968 Skylark Coupe. During the process of removing the old vinyl I discovered the window openings needed some metal work so I removed the windows and restored the metal around the openings. The first step was removing the windshield and rear window reveal moldings. When I removed these moldings I found a thin plastic shim/cushion under the chrome that has a small channel on one side that fits at the edge of the metal while the other side seems to just lay between the opposing trim edge and car body. Does anyone know if that plastic shim material is available. Appreciate any help on that. Thanks.

The Buick Master Parts Book shows Reveal Molding Anti-squeak Spacers are used on the windshield and rear window. The ones on the front are GM part no 7748859; the ones on the rear are no 7748859 and 7759672 for the '68 Skylark Coupe. I could not locate any of these for sale by searching under these numbers.

These part numbers show up on some other GM cars of the Late 60s. There must have been even more sizes of spacers based on other part numbers used on similar models.

This universal spacer is being reproduced and appears in several items on eBay:

Hopefully this one will work.
