Can anyone tell me if the window felts on a 66 skylark where made backwards? the wiper is on the inside and the whiskers are on the outside on the replacements that I have ordered seems to me that the wiper should be on the outside ?

I think I have seen felts on both sides, but the rubber wiper, I have only seen on the outside.

Yes I thought that but no they are not they have been cut out to fit up against the vent window trim so switching them is not an option
will have to have then made to fit I suppose

defeats the wipers purpose
I thought that too, but the outside one should be an inch or so longer. It could be possible that someone took some from car with a longer door and trimmed them to fit.

Attached are some pages from the 1966 Fisher Body Service Manual regarding the ‘draft strips’. There was quite a variety of construction methods that year depending on body type. The A-body 2dr hardtop was built with the felt pile material on the outside and the rubber seal on the inside. Going by the description there, the seals are intended more to prevent drafts and dust entry than act as a means to clean the window.
