We don't need no steenking billet, we're gonna make a head out of sheet steel. This project looks really trick.

I don't know what the rules allow, but if the work he is going through to make this head how much harder/more work would it be to make one an "Over Head Cam"????? Get ride of heavy pushrods/tubes/lifters/rocker arms, etc. Weight, is in fact, Horsepower!!!
Just a thought. I am absolutely envious/admiration of his talent/enthusiasm & abilities to accomplish such an undertaking/task.

Neat. Will the different pieces of steel be welded together once all of the machine work is completed?

cool

I have been following these guys on facebook for a while now. glad someone posted about the updates on here as well.

Frank has begun the task of welding the pieces together and leak testing as he goes. One internal leak would make it a near impossibility to repair. The reason it wasn't done as an OHC head is that the rules don't allow moving the camshaft out of the block. He will be posting more progress as time goes on. He can't get in a hurry and we aren't going to use the head until the 2014 Salt season which is a year and a half away. Keep watching us on Facebook.
