whats the difference

ok i know or i think i know 1953-1955 all share the same can lifters and push rods, but the 1956 are diffent as to the push rods, cams and lifter for 56 are cast where 53-54-55 are steel, as are the lifters , put are the push rods different and how,?

Yes that's correct. According to the shop manual the '56 pushrods are shorter than the '53-55s to accommodate taller plungers in the '56 lifters.

The distributor gear was also revised in '56 to comply with the metallugical changes in the camshaft and lifters.
