Upper a arm ball joint question.

I am installing new ball joints on my 1970 skylark. I removed the originals rivets and all. My factory service manual says to mount the new ball joints by installing the bolts from the bottom with the nuts on the top side. I have seen 10 68-72 gm a body cars All with the ball joint bolts inserted top down so the nuts are on the under side of the a arm. Is the preferred way as it is stated in the service manual? I think it looks much better with the nuts on the bottom, but I'm trying to stay as factory correct as possible.
Thanks.

To be as original as possible you would have to install the rivets as per factory. I've ALWAYS installed them with the nuts DOWN.

Yes not factory original without rivets, but not incorrect either as my 1970 shop manual definitely says to install with the bolt heads on the bottom which seems crazy to me because the bolt heads are way less conspicuous than the threads and nuts. Thanks for your input. One last thing. Any idea how much torque on the bolts?
