T/A Nailhead "A" body header question

Sorry Tom; Michael Brendle, 1853 Rolling Hills Loop, Council Bluffs, IA, 51503.............BTW; I called T/A earlier and all seems well with them taking the starter back because it's been within 30 days.........They even gave me their UPS RGA account number to ship it back........but, the lady did say she doesn't have control over the restocking fee amount and wasn't sure exactly what it will be.........I wouldn't be surprised if they bite me right in the ass with that.............Oh, and get this.........She tried telling me that they do sell a mini starter that will fit my car with headers......."for the 350-400-430-455"........I couldn't believe it..................I wanted to say something but just bit my tongue..........it also says right on their website that the starter I bought will fit the nail with headers..........but, I just noticed on my invoice it says fits 401-425 W/O headers........So I'm confused; I wonder if they're website means fits shorty headers..........????????????.........I hope all goes well and I see most of the money back on my prepaid card within a couple weeks......I'm sure they wont refund the money until they receive the useless starter... and it's about 4-5 days transit time......plus 3-5 days for my card company to apply it after that............

Thank's again Tom; you have seriously been a lifesaver here.........I should have the money order sent out around noon tomorrow.....

Mike.

Well the "Mini" was shipped today around 10:30am. Expected delivery date Wed. 11/20. Tracking number: 9114901075742552940623. USPS told me they don't even really need a name as long as the address is correct.
It will probably be in your hands before I receive payment. It will fit without, or with long or shorty's.

The money order was sent out about a half hr ago.......$331.00........thank's again for helping me out Tom........Next step is going to be getting the heads ported or atleast polished......

Starter just got here about 10 minutes ago Tom.........It looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!..:).....WAY WAY WAY smaller than the T/A one...........Thank's again Tom and all you guys for your input........Let me know if there are any problems with you receiving the money order Tom..........Money order should be there no later than Sat. or Mon...........What other cool upgrades do you have for the NAIL?......I should sell one of my engines so I can buy a set of your roller rockers...........

Mike

Received the Money Gram this afternoon Mike. It was made out to my business instead of what I had requested, "Made out to myself", but I can work around it to make it work. Let me know how it goes. Any questions or problems, hopefully should be none, don't hesitate to let me know. I test everyone on an engine BEFORE shipping.

I apologize........I was busy and had my mother fill out the money order with the info that was on the envelope.........I asked her to sign it directly to you but she informed me later that."she thought it was better to direct it towards the business"..........Thank's again for your help Tom.....and all you guys for your input.........I think after I have the heads and intake polished/ported.......I'm going to attempt some sort of forced induction setup.........A draw through setup where I have the carbs up front or set to the side would look VERY cool.......Then I could just use regular air cleaners........but, a blow through procharger setup would look awesome as well.........and I wouldn't have to do as much modification, just get two carb bonnets, a blow off valve, plumbing, supercharger, electric fuel pump, etc..........and hope my carter comp carbs are sealed up well enough to where it does blow air out of the carb, I could always solve that with a modified carb box though, then run cables and make sure everythings sealed up.....:)...........I'll keep you all updated with pics if I decide to go that route........

Sorry, forgot to reply Mike. As my signature says "If I can't get it, you don't need it". Think that about covers it.

Put the starter on yesterday Tom; Works EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!! and looks just as good as it works.........Seems to have way more torque than the stock starter...........And thank you Dr........That wix filter fit up in there without ANY line bending or anything, plus it is about an inch taller than the delco-24 I previously had on it so I think it's actually a big larger, if not the same size...............She's quite loud with headers, 3 inch collectors, and 3 foot of 3 inch pipe bent down to the ground...:) I LOVE IT..........but the police probably wont because I drive her on the street more than I do the track........So I'll probably end up putting mufflers on it or going back to my original plan of running 3'' straights all the way to the back, then maybe an "H" pipe..........I'm a little unsure still..................Still saving up for the roller rockers Tom :))))............Oh, Tom, will your NAIL roller rockers work with the Eelco aluminum valve covers?.............

Thank's again guys...

Mike

Mike it sounds like it is coming along. Since you already have them on, you may want to draw a line along your 3" collector extensions with crayons. Where the crayon stops melting /burning off is where you cut them off for the 2.5" reducers. It is an old racer trick, and I am pretty sure it works. I did it on an old 455 combination. It did not run any slower with the complete 2.5" exhaust system on the car with cutoff 3" extensions and 2.5" reducers.

I don't know that you have enough exhaust flow to need an X or H pipe to trade pulses. I know the H pipe that was on my Mustang made it sound like a Harley - wop, wop wop, wop, wop. I didn't like it. It now has a double X pipe that sounds better, but is kind of raspy. I don't think I would do either unless you really increase the flow.

Hey guys, I just decided to go with 2 1/2" straight pipes and use the 3"-2 1/2" collector reducers that came with the headers.............My tail pipes were already 2 1/2" and in perfect shape........she sounds REALLY good but I wont be able to give her a test run until probably April or May..........Snow on the ground and salt EVERYWHERE!!!!!!.........Oh, and I probably wont be buying anything from T/A every again........I'll explain in a new post.....
