Swap a 264 for 322? (1954 Special)

Hi folks, long time since I've been here.

I'm looking at getting a '54 Special, 2 door.
It has the 264 Nail with the Dynaflow, but has issues.
Would a 322 from a 54-56 be a straight swap? Seeing as the are basically thesame engine from what I can gather? Or would it be a bit more involved?

I am a mechanic by trade and have been messing around with various old cars and bikes (including a 1954 Roadmaster) for almost 20 years now, so if it's not too massive an undertaking I should be able to manage a bit more work to get it done.

I haven't done the swap, but I sure don't see why there would be a problem. They both belong to the early nailhead group, ie. not a 401 or 425.

Straight swap. Probably 90% of the difference was the piston bore size.
