Standard Bellhousings

That is an interesting question. What cu. in. nailhead are you looking for a housing for? The only number that comes up right now is 1373725 for a '65 Gran Sport. I believe the nailhead was offered in mid to late '50's GM pick ups as a heavy duty option. That would probably be the early blocks, but may yield a source for standard bell housings if you are looking for the smaller engines.
I am sure someone who knows will chime in:)

1162804 is for the 40 series '54 and '55 (early)
1345121 is for the 60 series, '53-'56 (early)
1192896 '57-'60
1348906 '63-'66, this number seems to be actually a misprint and should read 1348905
1373726 '65-'66 and is definitely a 4-speed housing.

This list may not be perfect, perhaps a more knowledgeable member will give additional info and corrections!

These numbers generally look good for synchromesh upper flywheel housing part numbers. Here’s a more detailed list from reviewing multiple Buick and Chevy parts books:

1162804 - 1954-55 series 40

1345121* - 1953-55 series 50, 1954-55 series 60, 1956 series 40

1172140 - 1957-59 series 40

1192896 - 1960 series 40, can be used on 1957-59 by adding 1/8” thick flat washer under heads of upper two attaching bolts on left side

No synchromesh nailheads built in 1961-62

1358906 - 1963 series 44-46-4800, 1964-65 Wildcat

1373726 - 1966 series 6000, 1965-67 400 engine (67 is not a nailhead)

1175580* - 1956-59 Chevrolet some 2-1/2 ton trucks and school buses (all are 322 engines)

With luck the part number matches the casting number on the piece. In only a couple of cases (*) could I confirm from photos or GM data that the casting and part numbers match. It would not surprise me to see a casting number one digit off from the part number.

Part numbers cover all manual transmission speeds where offered.
